  Designation of Origin "Rioja"

It is with Priorato, one of the two Qualified Designations of Origin in Spain and also the oldest. It is divided into three sub-regions: Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja and Rioja Alava. It is located in areas of La Rioja, Alava, Burgos and Navarra and its vineyards cover an area of 63,942 hectares.

All the area benefits from the confluence of two very opposite climates such as the Atlantic and Mediterranean, providing mild temperatures and annual rainfall somewhat above 400 l/m2, very suitable conditions for the development of the vine.

Traditional varieties of grapes are seven: Tempranillo, Red Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano for red wines and Viurra, Malvasia and Garnacha Blanca for white wines.

Preferred varieties: Tempranillo in red wines and Viura in white wines.

 

Bodega Marqués de Tomares

Marques de Tomares is a family winery, whose beginnings date back to 1910 when "Grandpa Don Román Mountain" began the elaboration and aging of wines, becoming the founder of a series of master craftsmen in wines. Currently are his grandchildren who continue this work successfully.

The winery is located in Fuenmayor, in the sub-region of Rioja Alta, a village that historically being characterized for the high quality of its Crianza wines.

The winery production is guaranteed with own vineyard by 25% and the rest is provided by individual farmers with extensive experience in the world of wine but which are controlled and supervised in the work carried out in the vineyards.
